Surah Al-Waqiah

Verse 1: E zaa waqa'a-til wa-qee'ah

Verse 2: Lai-sa lee-waq-'a-tee-haa ka-zee-bah

Verse 3: Kha-fi-da-tur-raa-fi'ah

Verse 4: E zaa ruj-ja-til ar-du raj-jaa

Verse 5: Wa bus-sa-til ji-baa-lu bas-saa

Verse 6: Fakaanat habaaa'am mumbassaa

Verse 7: Wa kuntum azwaajan salaasah

Verse 8: Fa as haabul maimanati maaa as haabul maimanah

Verse 9: Wa as haabul mash'amati maaa as haabul mash'amah

Verse 10: Wassaabiqoonas saabiqoon

Verse 11: Ulaaa'ikal muqarraboon

Verse 12: Fee Jannaatin Na'eem

Verse 13: Sullatum minal awwaleen

Verse 14: Wa qaleelum minal aa khireen

Verse 15: 'Alaa sururim mawdoonah

Verse 16: Muttaki'eena 'alaihaa mutaqabileen

Verse 17: Yatoofu 'alaihim wildaa num mukhalladoon

Verse 18: Bi akwaabinw wa abaareeq, wa kaasim mim ma'een

Verse 19: Laa yusadda'oona 'anhaa wa laa yunzifoon

Verse 20: Wa faakihatim mimmaa yatakhaiyaroon

Verse 21: Wa lahmi tairim mimmaa yashtahoon

Verse 22: Wa hoorun'een

Verse 23: Ka amsaalil lu'lu'il maknoon

Verse 24: Jazaaa'am bimaa kaanoo ya'maloon

Verse 25: Laa yasma'oona feehaa laghwanw wa laa taaseemaa

Verse 26: Illaa qeelan salaaman salaamaa

Verse 27: Wa as haabul yameeni maaa as haabul Yameen

Verse 28: Fee sidrim makhdood

Verse 29: Wa talhim mandood

Verse 30: Wa zillim mamdood

Verse 31: Wa maaa'im maskoob

Verse 32: Wa faakihatin kaseerah

Verse 33: Laa maqtoo'atinw wa laa mamnoo'ah

Verse 34: Wa furushim marfoo'ah

Verse 35: Innaaa anshaanaahunna inshaaa'aa

Verse 36: Faja'alnaahunna abkaaraa

Verse 37: 'Uruban atraabaa

Verse 38: Li as haabil yameen

Verse 39: Sullatum minal awwa leen

Verse 40: Wa sullatum minal aakhireen

Verse 41: Wa as haabush shimaali maaa as haabush shimaal

Verse 42: Fee samoominw wa hameem

Verse 43: Wa zillim miny yahmoom

Verse 44: Laa baaridinw wa laa kareem

Verse 45: Innahum kaanoo qabla zaalika mutrafeen

Verse 46: Wa kaanoo yusirroona 'alal hinsil 'azeem

Verse 47: Wa kaanoo yaqooloona a'izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa izaaman'ainnaa lamab'oosoon

Verse 48: Awa aabaaa'unal awwaloon

Verse 49: Qul innal awwaleena wal aakhireen

Verse 50: Lamajmoo'oona ilaa meeqaati yawmim ma'loom

Verse 51: Summa innakum ayyuhad daaalloonal mukazziboon

Verse 52: La aakiloona min shaja rim min zaqqoom

Verse 53: Famaali'oona minhal butoon

Verse 54: Fashaariboona 'alaihi minal hameem

Verse 55: Fashaariboona shurbal heem

Verse 56: Haazaa nuzuluhum yawmad deen

Verse 57: Nahnu khalaqnaakum falaw laaa tusaddiqoon

Verse 58: Afara'aytum maa tumnoon

Verse 59: 'A-antum takhluqoo nahooo am nahnul khaaliqoon

Verse 60: Nahnu qaddarnaa baina kumul mawta wa maa nahnu bimasbooqeen

Verse 61: 'Alaaa an nubaddila amsaalakum wa nunshi'akum fee maa laa ta'lamoon

Verse 62: Wa laqad 'alimtumun nash atal oolaa falaw laaa tazakkaroon

Verse 63: Afara'aytum maa tahrusoon

Verse 64: 'A-antum tazra'oonahooo am nahnuz zaari'ooon

Verse 65: Law nashaaa'u laja'al naahu hutaaman fazaltum tafakkahoon

Verse 66: Innaa lamughramoon

Verse 67: Bal nahnu mahroomoon

Verse 68: Afara'aytumul maaa'allazee tashraboon

Verse 69: 'A-antum anzaltumoohu minal muzni am nahnul munziloon

Verse 70: Law nashaaa'u ja'alnaahu ujaajan falaw laaa tashkuroon

Verse 71: Afara'aytumun naaral latee tooroon

Verse 72: 'A-antum anshaatum shajaratahaaa am nahnul munshi'oon

Verse 73: Nahnu ja'alnaahaa tazkira tanw wa mataa'al lilmuqween

Verse 74: Fasabbih bismi Rabbikal 'azeem

Verse 75: Falaaa uqsimu bimaawaa qi'innujoom

Verse 76: Wa innahoo laqasamul lawta'lamoona'azeem

Verse 77: Innahoo la quraanun kareem

Verse 78: Fee kitaabim maknoon

Verse 79: Laa yamassuhooo illal mutahharoon

Verse 80: Tanzeelum mir Rabbil'aalameen

Verse 81: Afabihaazal hadeesi antum mudhinoon

Verse 82: Wa taj'aloona rizqakum annakum tukazziboon

Verse 83: Falaw laaa izaa balaghatil hulqoom

Verse 84: Wa antum heena'izin tanzuroon

Verse 85: Wa nahnu aqrabu ilaihi minkum wa laakil laa tubsiroon

Verse 86: Falaw laaa in kuntum ghaira madeeneen

Verse 87: Tarji'oonahaaa in kuntum saadiqeen

Verse 88: Fa ammaaa in kaana minal muqarrabeen

Verse 89: Farawhunw wa raihaa nunw wa jannatu na'eem

Verse 90: Wa ammaaa in kaana min as haabil yameen

Verse 91: Fasalaamul laka min as haabil yameen

Verse 92: Wa ammaaa in kaana minal mukazzibeenad daaalleen

Verse 93: Fanuzulum min hameem

Verse 94: Wa tasliyatu jaheem

Verse 95: Inna haaza lahuwa haqqul yaqeen

Verse 96: Fasabbih bismi rabbikal 'azeem

Translation

Verse 1: When the Occurrence occurs,

Verse 2: There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

Verse 3: It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

Verse 4: When the earth is shaken with convulsion

Verse 5: And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

Verse 6: And become dust dispersing,

Verse 7: And you become [of] three kinds:

Verse 8: Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

Verse 9: And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?

Verse 10: And the forerunners, the forerunners -

Verse 11: Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]

Verse 12: In the Gardens of Pleasure,

Verse 13: A [large] company of the former peoples

Verse 14: And a few of the later peoples,

Verse 15: On thrones woven [with ornament],

Verse 16: Reclining on them, facing each other.

Verse 17: There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

Verse 18: With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

Verse 19: No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

Verse 20: And fruit of what they select

Verse 21: And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

Verse 22: And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

Verse 23: The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

Verse 24: As reward for what they used to do.

Verse 25: They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

Verse 26: Only a saying [of] peace, peace.

Verse 27: The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

Verse 28: [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed

Verse 29: And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

Verse 30: And shade extended

Verse 31: And water poured out

Verse 32: And fruit, abundant [and varied],

Verse 33: Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

Verse 34: And [upon] beds raised high.

Verse 35: Indeed, We have produced them [i.e., the women of Paradise] in a [new] creation

Verse 36: And made them virgins,

Verse 37: Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

Verse 38: For the companions of the right [who are]

Verse 39: A company of the former peoples

Verse 40: And a company of the later peoples.

Verse 41: And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

Verse 42: [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

Verse 43: And a shade of black smoke,

Verse 44: Neither cool nor beneficial.

Verse 45: Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

Verse 46: And they used to persist in the great violation,

Verse 47: And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

Verse 48: And our forefathers [as well]?"

Verse 49: Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, the former and later peoples

Verse 50: Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

Verse 51: Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

Verse 52: Will be eating from trees of zaqqūm

Verse 53: And filling with it your bellies

Verse 54: And drinking on top of it from scalding water

Verse 55: And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

Verse 56: That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

Verse 57: We have created you, so why do you not believe?

Verse 58: Have you seen that which you emit?

Verse 59: Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

Verse 60: We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

Verse 61: In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

Verse 62: And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

Verse 63: And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

Verse 64: Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

Verse 65: If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

Verse 66: [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

Verse 67: Rather, we have been deprived."

Verse 68: And have you seen the water that you drink?

Verse 69: Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

Verse 70: If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

Verse 71: And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

Verse 72: Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

Verse 73: We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

Verse 74: So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Verse 75: Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

Verse 76: And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

Verse 77: Indeed, it is a noble Qur’ān.

Verse 78: In a Register well-protected;

Verse 79: None touch it except the purified [i.e., the angels].

Verse 80: [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Verse 81: Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

Verse 82: And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

Verse 83: Then why, when it [i.e., the soul at death] reaches the throat

Verse 84: And you are at that time looking on -

Verse 85: And We [i.e., Our angels] are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

Verse 86: Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

Verse 87: Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

Verse 88: And if he [i.e., the deceased] was of those brought near [to Allāh],

Verse 89: Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

Verse 90: And if he was of the companions of the right,

Verse 91: Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

Verse 92: But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

Verse 93: Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

Verse 94: And burning in Hellfire.

Verse 95: Indeed, this is the true certainty,

Verse 96: So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
